Axiom Housing Association's Foyer in Peterborough is hosting an exciting new project, WORKING ASSETS, for young people on 12 March.

This innovative new programme, funded by the Tenant's Services Authority (TSA), is exploring a range of positive new approaches to engage young people in development the skills, resource and opportunity 'assets' they need to survive and thrive in their local community.

The Foyer Federation, in partnership with Axiom, launches the new WORKING ASSETS Programme at Peterborough Foyer on Thursday 12 March.

At a time of economic downturn, the programme demonstrates the vital role that Foyers can play in helping those most at risk of disadvantage to build positive identities and capabilities for the world of work and future employment.

A key part of WORKING ASSETS is about empowering young people to take on leadership roles to implement their own enterprising initiative.

At Peterborough Foyer this has involved the construction of a community garden. The showcase event will provide an opportunity to formally unveil the garden and present details of the different engagement, coaching, mentoring, assessment and quality assurance models that have been explored through the programme.

The Foyer Federation hopes that other housing organisations will wish to adopt Axiom's approach over the coming year.

The event on Thursday 12 March will give people a chance to learn from the experiences of young people, celebrate their achievements and look forward to the next steps in the programme as it moves beyond Peterborough.
