The Chief Executive of social housing and regeneration organisation The Riverside Group has been awarded a CBE in the New Year honours list.
Deborah, who has over 25 years’ experience working in housing, was nominated for services to the housing sector.
She joined The Riverside Group in 1993, since when she has seen the organisation go from strength to strength.
Established in 1928 as Liverpool Improved Houses, Riverside started out with just 15 houses in Swan Street, Liverpool, with rents of just six shillings (30p) per week in a bid to make housing
affordable to those most in need.
The Riverside Group was formed in 2001 and is recognised today as one of the largest and most dynamic housing and regeneration organisations in Britain, managing and owning more than 50,000 homes
from Carlisle to Kent, and employing over 2,400 members of staff.
The vision of The Riverside Group, which won Social Landlord of the Year 2008, is to transform lives and revitalise neighbourhoods.
Deborah’s other interests include: Vice Chairman of the National Housing Federation; Governor of Liverpool John Moores University; Non-Executive Director of Sefton Primary Care Trust; and
Member of the North West Regional Leaders’ Forum.
