Northamptonshire-based housing association, South Northants Homes (SNH), in partnership with South Northamptonshire Council and Specialist Fleet Services, has refurbished the Towcester Centurions’ (affiliated to the Round Table) Santa’s sleigh.
The sleigh is a well recognised and much loved sight in Towcester and around the district. Every Christmas it is pulled through the streets by the Council’s 4 x 4 Ford Ranger reindeer by their employee Chalkie White and decked with lights courtesy of Specialist Fleet Services.
The sleigh enables children to see Santa and the Centurions to collect donations for local charities and good causes, particularly hampers for the elderly and other vulnerable people.
Wear and tear over time had caused the sleigh to become increasingly dilapidated. Now, thanks to the efforts of Christopher Lovell, Colin Gardner and Andrew Bavester at SNH, who gave the sleigh a Yuletide make over and refurbishment, Santa will this year be pulled in great style, sporting the logos of SNH! Everyone at SNH and the Centurions hope the community, young and old, enjoy the parade.
Stephen Burnley, President of the Towcester Centurions said: “We are very grateful to everyone at SNH; without their help we may not have been able to help Santa on his rounds this year.”
This year Santa has been in Bugbrooke on 13 December, Greens Norton on the 16 December and will be in Towcester on the 19 and 21 December.
