More from Sanctuary Group

Charlotte Wood, a personal assistant for Sanctuary Care, a subsidiary of leading UK housing provider Sanctuary Group, and friends from two West Midlands based amateur dramatic societies, performed live music and dance at a fundraising event for SHIRE – Sanctuary Helping Involve Residents Equally.

The event, which took place at Grayshott Village Hall on the Surrey/Hampshire border, was organised by SHIRE to raise funds for the group, which is made up of residents, carers and other staff and is dedicated to giving a voice to residents with learning and physical disabilities.

Charlotte – PA for Steve Wood, Sanctuary Care’s managing director - and her friends performed music by pop group Steps, as well as hits from popular musicals, including Grease and Oliver.

She said: “SHIRE is such an important part of Sanctuary Care and we were thrilled to be given the opportunity to give something back to the group.”

Pat Ranson, service manager for Sanctuary Care’s learning and physical disability homes in the south region said: “It was a fantastic day and we raised in the region of £630.”

Around 100 residents and staff travelled from Sanctuary Care homes across Hampshire, Gloucestershire, Wiltshire and London for the event, which took place last Thursday.

There were also stalls, raffles, a buffet lunch and a cake cutting ceremony.

James Hoskins, a Sanctuary Care resident of Shaftesbury Place in Cheltenham, also provided a disco using equipment paid for by previous SHIRE fundraising events.
