Service excellence was recognised and celebrated at The Guardian Public Services Awards in London on 25 November.
The Institute of Customer Service (ICS) sponsored the Innovation and progress - Customer Service category, won by Glasgow City Council’s Development and Regeneration Services department. The council also took the overall winner’s title.
The council backed Scotcash - a scheme that offers Glasgow residents an alternative to doorstep credit lenders – as did ICS member Royal Bank of Scotland and the Glasgow Housing Association.
ICS members Sandwell Metropolitan Borough Council won the Housing and regeneration prize, Aberdeen City Council triumphed in the Innovation and progress - Sustainability category and Haringey Council took the title in the Transport Policy and Projects category.
Other ICS members shortlisted for awards were: London Borough of Croydon, London Borough of Islington and Liverpool Direct Ltd.
“It’s important that we put the spotlight on organisations that can genuinely claim to have pushed the boundaries of public service delivery over the last 12 months,” says ICS chief executive David Parsons.
“The Institute was delighted to sponsor a category at this year’s Public Services Awards and it was tremendous to see several ICS members featured among the winners and finalists.”
