One of the UK’s largest affordable housing providers, Home, has introduced its first ever national customer-training programme.
‘Positive Steps’ offers a range of free training to all residents, from effective communication, give respect/ get respect and basic computer skills to practical courses such as
flooring and gardening, which are being run by B&Q.
Working with residents, our customer involvement team has joined forces with B&Q to produce a full programme of courses for people to take part in and all are available locally.
All of the courses are free to Home residents and promise to be fun, informative and useful for everyone who takes part. Home is also providing support to people taking part by including
refreshments and helping with childcare.
By taking part, Home hopes that residents can build their personal skills, as well as help it improve the services it provides to thousands of local people every day.
Jim Rafferty, Executive Director for Housing Operations, said: “Home is committed to getting customers involved in its future plans, as well as the housing decisions that affect
peoples’ lives. Since Home was formed, customers have been involved in those plans and decisions in many different ways.
“Tenants sit on our various Boards and thousands of people have been involved and given us their views either via post or by taking part in our events, meetings and exhibitions.
“By talking to our customers, we have established that they want to be even more involved at every level and also want to know more about Home.”
Ends.
