Vicinity Communications, the Vicinity Group in-house communications team, have been shortlisted for a prestigious award within the internal communications category of the Construction Marketing Awards for 2008.

The prestigious Construction Marketing Awards are universally recognised as a unique and highly regarded measure of excellence in construction marketing and business development.

This achievement was for the 'Measuring Up' campaign which was developed on behalf of Liverpool Housing Trust (LHT), part of the Vicinity Group.  The campaign was aimed at LHT contractors and was created in partnership with LHT Property Services.

Key messages concerning health & safety, CSCS (Construction Skills Certification Scheme) accreditation, equality & diversity, customer care and training were delivered through the production of a DVD, training manual, e-communications and the launch of the campaign at the last LHT Contractor Conference.

Vicinity Communications have won several awards on behalf of their clients, including National Housing Federation and CIPR Pride awards; they have also been key contributors to awards won by departments and teams across the Group.

Philip Gandy, Group Chief Executive, said:  "Vicinity Group central service teams achieve a very high standard of excellence and value for money, both in group-wide initiatives and on behalf of our member organisations.  We are delighted to have been shortlisted for this award, as it is yet another indication of the professional service that is being provided."

LHT Property Services are highly innovative in their approach to training initiatives which ensure the best results on behalf of LHT tenants.  They have received industry recognition for their achievements and have been particularly noted for developing 'Second Generation Partnering', a framework for working in partnership with contractors to achieve excellent service delivery and cost-effective procurement.

Simon Brown, LHT Divisional Director (Asset Management) commented: "The Measuring Up campaign demonstrates our commitment to supporting contractors to improve the services they offer to LHT customers.

“The results of this campaign speak for themselves, as indicated by the levels of customer satisfaction in tenant surveys and performance indicators for the work carried out by our contractors."

Steve Lee, Managing Director of LHT contractor, L&W Heating & Plumbing added: "Since working with LHT, we have seen noticeable benefits for our business, which we are then able to pass back to LHT customers.

“LHT is unique in its all-encompassing method of working with contractors. The training and development programmes which we have taken part in have really made a difference to the way that we carry out our work."
