Jyoti Odedra has joined housing group LHA-ASRA’s Development and Regeneration team as a graduate trainee through an internal promotion.
Jyoti, of Leicester, is now a graduate trainee in Programme Delivery, assisting the team in the procurement, development and delivery of new housing schemes across the east midlands.
Her previous role at the Group was Assistant Company Secretary. She graduated in 2005 from Coventry University with a degree in Law before developing an interest in the housing sector.
Jyoti said: “My previous role within the Group has given me invaluable knowledge of the affordable housing sector which I can now put to use within the development team.
“I am looking forward to making a significant contribution to LHA-ASRA’s ambitious development programme for high quality affordable homes for our residents.”
Robert Nettleton, Group Director of Development & Regeneration at LHA-ASRA, said: “Jyoti’s promotion demonstrates our commitment to retaining and developing talent within LHA-ASRA.
“We place great value on investing in our people so they can reach their full potential and, in turn, provide the best possible service to our customers.”
LHA-ASRA was awarded more than £27 million to build 585 new homes, by the Housing Corporation, the Government agency that funds the development of affordable homes, putting it in the top 30 social house builders nationally.
The Group was awarded the Government cash to invest in building homes for affordable rent and shared ownership (known as ‘New Build HomeBuy’) in the east midlands and London, increasing the size of its development programme by £100 million.
In the east midlands, LHA-ASRA will use £18 million to build 506 homes, while £9 million will be used to build 79 homes in London.
The funding, known as Social Housing Grant, is part of the Housing Corporation’s £3.3 billion investment in the National Affordable Housing Programme.
LHA-ASRA had the 27th largest capture of the Social Housing Grant out of 105 organisations selected to build affordable homes between 2008 and 2011.
Among the projects the Group has lined up are the £3 million transformation of former hosiery mill buildings in Leicester to create 200 affordable apartments and the regeneration of the
Stonebridge Park estate in Nottingham.
