A new chief executive has taken charge of one of the countrys largest social housing refurbishment, repair and maintenance companies.
Guy Wakeley (38) is the new head of Morrison Facilities Services which looks after 400,000 homes in the UK for councils, housing associations and arms length management organisations (ALMOs).
Mr Wakeley joins Morrison from support services group Amey plc, where he was managing director for its Built Environment division.
He said: Morrison is an exciting business with tremendous potential which we can develop despite the current problems in the construction and housing markets. The company is firmly grounded in the social housing sector with a strong and stable revenue base which it can expand and develop.
My role at the company will be to set the strategy and drive the future growth of the business.
Morrison Facilities Services is part of Anglian Water Group (AWG) but is run on a standalone basis. Mr Wakeley will report to Jonson Cox, chief executive of AWG and chairman of Morrison plc.
Jonson Cox said, Guy will lead the next phase of development of Morrison Facilities Services. The business has grown rapidly in recent years and is now a leader in its field and has good growth prospects.
Over the past few months, we have put in place a strong and experienced team at the centre of this business, underpinning our commitment to retain and grow it. Guys experience makes him the ideal person to head the team and consolidate Morrison Facilities Services position as a leading provider in its sector.
Before his most recent appointment at Amey plc Mr Wakeley was managing director of Rok Maintenance and prior to that he was managing director of Berkeley Homes Eastern. He is a chartered mechanical engineer (MIMechE) with a BA and MA from the University of Cambridge and a PhD from the University of Newcastle upon Tyne.
His hobbies include running, private pilot flying and canoeing. He lives in Leamington Spa with wife Laura and two year old daughter Isobel.
He joins a senior executive team at Morrison Facilties Services which includes Nigel Howell as finance director and Graham Eden as chief operating officer.
