A free fun day has taken place for older members of the local community in North Manchester.
The event, held to celebrate the International Day of Older Persons was held at Trinity Methodist Church in Ancoats. Organised by Adactus Housing Association and Zest, a healthy living project based in North Manchester, the fun day was open to all residents aged 55 and over.
Activities including pamper sessions took place as well as line dancing, mosaic making and healthy eating advice. A reminiscence session took place, which allowed residents to discuss how the local area used to look and how it has changed since their childhood. A reminiscence quiz tested participants knowledge of the local area, and a guess the street competition took place which required participants to look at images of Miles Platting and Ancoats from yesteryear and guess where they were.
Rebecca Day, Resident Involvement Officer for Adactus Housing Association, said: "We regularly organise events for young people and families, but Older Peoples Day gave us the opportunity to
organise a fun day for older members of the local community. It was extremely interesting to listen in on the reminiscence session that took place as we were able to hear the residents views on how
the local area has changed since their childhood and what they would like to see changed in the future."
