With fifty per cent of its attractive waterside properties now sold, Orbit First Step is reminding would-be purchasers that time is running out to snap up a fantastic deal on one of the seven remaining 2-bedroom apartments at its prestigious Diglis Water development in Worcester.

The properties are offered for sale through Orbit First Steps New Build HomeBuy scheme, formerly known as shared ownership, in which purchasers typically buy a 50 per cent share in the property, although minimum shares of just 25 per cent are also available. Most purchasers raise a mortgage to buy their share, and then pay rent to Orbit First Step on the remaining share. Purchasers can buy additional shares in the future if they wish, meaning that one day they could be the outright owner with no further rent to pay.

Prices for the properties, which include fitted carpets throughout; a fully fitted kitchen, including a washer/dryer and oven and hob; bathroom with electric shower; balcony (selected apartments only) and secure parking areas, start from just £39,875 for a 25 per cent share. This means they are available to anyone with a household income of around £19,800 or above.

Alternatively, buyers could take advantage of an innovative rent before you buy scheme. The scheme enables people to move into the property they want to purchase straight away as a tenant and pay a discounted rent saving 20 per cent against the current market rental rate. While they are renting, they are encouraged to save for a deposit which is one of the major hurdles for first time buyers to jump over. Part of the Orbit Group, Orbit First Step will even match the savings buyers put forward effectively doubling the level of deposit they can put down on the property.

Terms and conditions apply on all purchasing options.

Anyone who is interested in finding out more about the apartments is invited to visit the showhome where they can get an idea of the stylish life they could enjoy. The showhome is open every Friday, Saturday and Sunday between 10am and 4pm with Orbit First Step staff on hand to provide further information and answer any questions.

Diglis Water offers buyers looking for an affordable new home in the city a unique opportunity to become part of a whole new community that is springing up alongside the picturesque canal basin, just a short walk from Worcester city centre. The development is also set to include a whole host of new facilities including shops, restaurants, a community centre and gym.

Orbit First Steps Sales and Marketing Manager, Karen Coleman said: Diglis Basin has been hailed as one of the biggest and most exciting regeneration projects in Worcester. It has turned a former industrial site into a modern development of new homes and we are delighted to be involved in the project.

She added: Our properties present an attractive and affordable housing solution to local people who are finding it difficult to take their first step onto the property ladder. The apartments represent real value for money and they are far more affordable than homes available on the on the open market. As an additional advantage, unlike purchasing with a conventional mortgage, huge deposits are not required under the New Build HomeBuy scheme. And now, with the option of our Rent Before You Buy scheme, these apartments will be even more popular, so anyone who is interested is urged to come and speak to us soon or risk missing out on a rare opportunity to buy a property on this exciting development.
