People interested in buying a brand new home that is both affordable and eco-friendly are invited to go along to an open event being held by Orbit First Step at their prestigious Peaselands development in Desborough. The event takes place on Saturday 8 November between 10 am and 3pm.

Along with friendly staff from Orbit First Step, a solicitor and independent financial advisor will be present at the event to offer no obligation advice to those who require it. Visitors to the event will also have the opportunity to enter a free prize draw to win a £50 shopping voucher.

Nine superb 3-bedroom houses are available at Peaselands. As well as having softwood double glazing and a rainwater harvesting system, which is recycled in to the grey water system of each house, the properties, built by ISG Jackson Special Projects, are fitted either with air source heat pumps or solar panels, and feature low energy lighting throughout. The properties are also built with a state-of-the-art structural insulated panel system by leading manufacturer Kingspan TEK to provide outstanding thermal insulation levels.

All the properties are available under the New Build HomeBuy scheme operated by Orbit First Step. Under the scheme, formerly known as shared ownership, purchasers typically buy a 50 per cent share in the property, although minimum shares of 25 per cent are available. Most purchasers will need to raise a mortgage to purchase their share, and then pay rent on the remaining share. The great news is that there is always an option to buy further shares and ultimately own the property outright.

Alternatively, buyers could take advantage of an innovative rent before you buy scheme. The scheme enables people to move into the property they want to purchase straight away as a tenant and pay a discounted rent saving 20 per cent against the current market rental rate. While they are renting, they are encouraged to save for a deposit which is one of the major hurdles for first time buyers to jump over. Part of the Orbit Group, Orbit First Step will even match the savings buyers put forward effectively doubling the level of deposit they can put down on the property.

Terms and conditions apply on all purchasing options.

Orbit First Steps Sales and Marketing Manager, Karen Coleman said: ISG Jackson Special Projects has done a fantastic job in sourcing environmentally friendly solutions that will ensure these properties offer a really modern way of living that will offer lower fuel bills for residents as well as helping to protect the environment from harmful CO2 emissions. This is fantastic news considering that fuels bills are continuing to rocket. The homes have an Excellent Ecohomes rating and the development shows that you can have affordable homes that use the most modern methods of sustainable construction.

She added: Homes which are affordable are difficult to find these days, but to find ones which are also eco-friendly is exceptionally rare and those who go on to buy these properties will be buying into a unique lifestyle as well as simply purchasing a new home.

Visitors to the Peaselands event will also have the opportunity to talk to Orbit First Step about additional properties available in the Northamptonshire region.

For further information on the properties available at Peaselands, please call a member of the sales team on 08458 50 20 50 or visit www.orbitfirststep.org.uk where you will also find details of other developments available to purchase under this scheme.
