On Monday 6 October the Silver Threads, (Stanhopes over 55s social group) and other senior residents in the community got together to enjoy an afternoon of entertainment. This fun event was organised by Moat to try to prevent accidents in the home and to encourage new members to join the Silver Threads. All attendees were provided with a pair of brand new slippers in order to help prevent the numerous accidents that happen in the home as a result of ill fitting or worn out slippers. The Silver Threads were keen to welcome new members to their group who meet regularly to play bingo, socialise and go out on day trips.
Local entertainer, Adrian Chapman, offered up his musical talents and inspired many participants to get up and line dance to his country and western themed set! With a cream tea on offer and the opportunity to get to know their fellow Stanhope residents, over 40 people spent the afternoon at Stanhope Parish Rooms and went home with their brand new slippers.
Stanhope resident and Silver Threads representative, Marie White, says: I have had a great time not only did we receive a pair of slippers but we also enjoyed a very entertaining afternoon of music and dancing.
Moats community development officer, Joanna Aylott, says: Keeping residents safe and secure in their home is of utmost importance to Moat. This afternoon has allowed us to work toward prevention of accidents in the home and build on Stanhopes great community spirit through entertainment!
