Affordable housing specialist Lovell has been chosen by Mount Green Housing Association to design and build a £4.4 million housing development in Ashtead, Surrey.

Lovell will create 35 one- and two-bedroom apartments for affordable rent and shared ownership at the site in Howard Close.

The new homes will replace existing flats owned by the housing association which will be demolished by Lovell.

The new apartments will be arranged in seven blocks and will meet Level 3 of the Code for Sustainable Homes, incorporating high levels of insulation and other energy-efficient features including solar roof panels on some properties.

Lovell is set to start demolition work in November. The new housing is set to be completed by the end of 2009.
