TODAY IN HOUSING

A survey of housing association residents in Hattersley found that 81% of respondents were satisfied with the area as a place to live. The majority found easy access to community facilities as a benefit and though 18% said it was likely they would move in the next three years, half of them said they would stay in the area.

This independent survey which was carried out on behalf of Peak Valley Housing Association by Kwest Research has been warmly welcomed by Phil Corris Managing Director of Peak Valley.

The survey was carried out to determine how successful Peak Valley is in delivering its services to residents and to benchmark our performance. One of the subject areas surveyed concentrated on Hattersley as a place to live and its been given a massive thumbs up.

The survey also provided good news for Peak Valley which is responsible for 1600 homes in Hattersley. 78% of residents said they were satisfied with the services provided by their landlord, 75% reported satisfaction with the overall quality of their home; and 70% said that they were satisfied their rent provided value for money.

Peak Valley is currently in its second year of multi million pound refurbishment of its properties to them up to the Governments Decent Homes Standard. The refitting of windows, doors, bathroom and kitchens can be quite traumatic but even in this area, Peak Valley and its main subcontractor The Casey Group, came out well with 70% expressing satisfaction with the work carried out to date and providing very positive comments about the attitude of workers.

We are really very pleased with the results from this independent survey, adds Phil. We are a fairly new organisation and its great to know that as a team we have - on the whole - been getting things right. Obviously there are areas for improvement and we will be working in close consultation with our resident groups to make sure that where we can improve, we do.

However, the overriding message is people rate Hattersley and they rate Peak Valley and thats good news for all of us!
