Inspirational blind runner and Sandwell celebrity Dave Heeley today praised Accord for launching a new campaign to ensure fairness for all.
Dave, who ran seven marathons across seven continents in just seven days, launched the new Disability Equality Scheme to Accord staff in Walsall on Friday.
The scheme sets out how the Birmingham and Black Country-based Housing Association will ensure that disabled staff, potential employees and customers are treated fairly.
This scheme is the first part of Accord’s new ‘Fairness’ Campaign which will be rolled out during the next 12 months. The campaign aims to ensure that everyone is treated fairly and with respect, recognising and responding to their individuality.
Dave said: “I am delighted to team up with Accord to launch their new Disability Equality Scheme.
“I strongly believe that disability should not be a barrier to achieving your dreams and I am happy to support Accord’s efforts in ensuring that everyone has the chance to succeed whoever they are.”
Celia Davis, from Accord, added: “This Disability Equality Scheme is a way for us as an organisation to put a plan into place to ensure that our current and potential customers and staff are treated with respect as individuals rather than because they have a disability.
“Fairness is at the heart of everything we do at Accord and this is just part of the overall picture.”
