Kind hearted staff at Peterborough-based Greenwoods Solicitors LLP (www.greenwoods.co.uk) took part in an Its a Knockout event organised by local housing association Axiom to raise much needed cash for charity.

The Greenwoods Gladiators a 10 strong team of solicitors and support staff competed in a true Eddie Waring, Stuart Hall style day based on the BBCs hit 1970s Its a Knockout television show.

The event took place on Saturday 13 September 2008 on the Peterborough Embankment, has been organised by Axiom Housing Association in support of its newly launched charity Axiom Homeless Action.

Among the senior members of the Greenwoods team not afraid to get into the spirit of the event in the name of charity were head of housing law Graham Cooper, finance manager David Snodgrass and practice development manager Sara Blackwell.

Graham Cooper said: The purpose of the event was to elevate awareness of homelessness within the city. By taking part, we helped to raise much needed funds for the charity, which aims to provide targeted support services for homeless people within the Peterborough community, and had some fun too!

The team enjoyed six fun-packed events including Slippery Summit where participants aimed to scale an inflatable slide made all the more difficult by the presence of water and foam.

Greenwoods Gladiators finished in fifth place from a field of nine teams and garnered 65 points on the way. The team made a promising start. A spirited aerobic warm up from Carl Boz earned the team 10 bonus points. However, not everyone made it over the Slippery Summit and David Snodgrass, dressed in a 10ft giant 'king' costume, toppled over before his race began, failing to qualify in his heat.
