Children from Prislow Fields in Falmouth, one of Sanctuary Shaftesbury’s general rented schemes, have been enjoying fun trips and treats thanks to the success of this year’s Sanctuary Shaftesbury Dream Scheme.

The scheme, which ran throughout the school holidays, saw Sanctuary staff helping children carry out a range of jobs to enhance their communities in return for rewards.

Tasks included painting a metal storage container, designing road safety signs and painting house numbers on tiles in return for trips to Plymouth Ski Centre, Truro’s ATV Motor Sports Centre and a disco/karaoke party.

Sam Sposito, community development officer, said: “This is the first time we’ve done the Dream Scheme in Cornwall and it’s been a great experience for everyone involved.

“It gets kids out on rainy days, encourages them to look after their community and gets them all together so that they can have fun.”
