Sheffield Homes and its Decent Homes partners, Kier Sheffield, Lovell Partnerships Ltd, Keepmoat, Wates Living Space and Henry Boot Construction sponsored a Week of Summer Fun for young people in
areas where Decent Homes work is taking place.
From Monday 18th to Friday 22nd August, with the support of Activity Sheffield, a series of fun street sport themed activities took place across Sheffield involving local residents, schools and
community groups.
The initiative was set up to increase awareness of how the Decent Homes programme, a £669million scheme of improvements to Council homes managed by Sheffield Homes, is contributing to
improving the quality of life for young residents across Sheffield.
Throughout the week each Decent Homes partner hosted a fun activity including Street Football, a 25 meter long inflatable football pitch and Street Wheels, a portable skateboarding and BMX
course.
Staff from Sheffield Homes and Decent Homes partners were on hand to answer questions and provide information about Decent Homes work being undertaken in the area.
Jon Lovibond, Director of Investment, Sheffield Homes said, “I’m pleased to see the week has been a success and has been well attended by residents in the surrounding communities.
"The young people that came along seemed to really enjoy the football and BMX and skateboard ramps.
The week of fun is intended to build on the success of the previous action week which focussed on an environmental theme, held in March of this year. These events allow us to talk to customers in
creative and fun ways and receive important feedback about our services.”
Joseph Ramsden aged 11 from Meadowhead added, “I’ve had loads of fun and I love riding my BMX bike. It’s a really good idea to set up the BMX ramps and I think it is something
that should be done in every park.
"I especially like the biggest ramp as I can jump quite high on that.”
