New Tenant Services Authority chief to make first public speech at TPAS conference
Peter Marsh, the newly appointed Chief Executive of the Tenants Services Authority, will make his first public speech at the TPAS Annual Conference this week.
The conference, which will take place from August 1 to 3, is the largest tenant and resident involvement conference in England, with over 800 delegates, and is held at the Birmingham International
Hilton Hotel.
The Tenant Services Authority (TSA) received a boost this week with Royal Assent for the Housing and Regeneration Act which sets out the powers of the new Authority.
TPAS Chief Executive Phil Morgan, said: “We’re obviously delighted that Peter will be our keynote speaker.
"It is fitting that his first speech will be to the leading tenants and staff engaged in tenant involvement and sets a very clear message that tenants, and tenant involvement, will be at the heart
of the new regulatory regime.
“It is especially welcome given TPAS’s successes, alongside other partners, in getting tenants put on the Board of the Authority, whole domain regulation for tenants and a series of
commitments on tenants setting targets, having access to benchmarked information, tenant triggers to the Authority and a duty on the Authority to engage tenants.”
Marsh will also hand over Landlord and Contractor Accreditation Awards to a number of successful landlords and contractors including Trent and Dove Housing, Acis Group, Wates Living Space and
Thomas Vale Construction.
Phil Morgan added: “These latest Awards now bring to 20 the number of Accredited Landlords and Contactors with many more going through the process.
"This marks a quiet revolution in improving tenant involvement and the ability of these Awards to accredit that involvement at a three star rating equivalent.”
Marsh will be joined by CIH Chief Executive Sara Webb and Wakefield and District Housing Chief Executive Kevin Dodd for an interactive voting session with delegates at the Conference, which will be
an early indication of tenant views for the new Authority.
