500 homes refurbished
Manchester based social housing and regeneration specialists has reached a milestone of refurbishing 500 houses on behalf of Southway Housing Trust, a not-for-profit landlord managing and improving
over 5,900 homes in South Manchester.
The completion and handover of the 500th house, is part of a £24 million ongoing programme of works which Bramall Construction, working in partnership with Southway Housing Trust and the
Impact Manchester Framework, is carrying out to bring 2000 homes up to the Government’s Decent Home standard.
The refurbishment work includes installing new kitchens, bathrooms, windows and doors.
Bramall Construction is carrying out Decent Homes refurbishment work on more than 50,000 social housing properties across the North West on behalf of a range of clients, including local authorities
and housing associations.
To mark the 500th handover, Bramall Construction presented tenant Ellen Gavin with a bunch of flowers and a luxury hamper.
Paul Hughes from Bramall Construction said, “We are delighted to have reached this event so quickly on behalf of Southway Housing. As specialists in refurbishing homes, we know that our
role is not limited to the delivery of new kitchens and bathrooms, but is also about working with and supporting the local community around the key areas of training, employment and community
benefit issues.
Ellen Gavin, 500th tenant said, “The work that Bramall Construction carried out has transformed our place into a new home and we are very grateful to them and to Southway Housing Trust. We
always knew that there would be some disruption while our property was being refurbished, but we have been very impressed by the way that Bramall Construction has handled this process and looked
after us.”
Southway’s Chief Executive, Karen Mitchell said; “The work doesn’t stop here. We’re pressing on with making high quality improvements to the thousands of Southway homes in
Burnage, Chorlton, Didsbury and Withington. We’re looking forward to making many more tenants as happy as Mrs Gavin!”
