UPTON ARLFC SCORES £1000 GRANT FROM WDH
Uptons Amateur Rugby League Football Club (ARLFC) converted a £1000 grant from Wakefield and District Housings (WDHs) Local Management Committee (LMC) earlier this week.
Eric Clamp, Vice Chair of the LMC handed over the cheque, to buy much needed equipment for the under 12s, including warm up tops and a new team strip, to Team Manager, Craig Tucker and the youngsters at a training session at the club.
Eric said, The group has about 250 youngsters split into about eight different teams and they do a lot of good work for the area. They keep the kids healthy through sport and they learn to work as a team. Parents come together at the matches all shouting in support of their kids its excellent for the community spirit and Im just so pleased we were able to help.
Upton ARLFC first began in 1979, and now holds training sessions ranging from Under 8s through to Under 18s. The club also has a well-established Open Age team.
Craig Tucker, Upton ARLFC Team Manager said, Its fantastic news for the club. We have waited until now to tell the kids the good news as we knew theyd be really excited that theyre getting new
kit.
