Joint Statement from Paul Rigby, Chairman of New Fylde Housing & Phillip Jones, Chairman of Progress Housing Group:
We are delighted to announce that on 24th June 2008, the Board of New Fylde Housing unanimously agreed to select Progress Housing Group as its preferred Group Partner.
In practical terms this means that New Fylde Housing will join Progress Housing Group as an independent member retaining its own Board but benefiting from the resources that are available from working within a much larger organisation.
The proposed structure will ensure that New Fylde Housing will retain maximum levels of independence and will retain its strategic influence on housing provision in the Borough of Fylde.
It is also great news for existing tenants of Progress Housing Group. As a larger, stronger organisation, Progress Housing Group will be able to invest even more in its existing homes and communities and in providing more excellent quality homes for people in Lancashire.
Tenants have been placed at the forefront when considering all aspects of the proposed arrangements and we believe that the decision taken will ensure that all current and future tenants of the Group will continue to receive the highest quality services.
The process of New Fylde Housing joining the Group is likely to take a number of months and although the process to date has been detailed and meticulously planned, in many ways the hard work begins now.
We acknowledge that our respective Boards have been charged with a great responsibility to ensure that New Fylde Housing is successfully registered within the Group and we firmly believe that our cultural similarities will ease this process.
This is a very exciting time for our respective organisations. Our tenants will remain at the heart of all decisions made between now and registration.
We see this as a true partnership and look to the future with a great deal of optimism.
