Hollinwood Carnival Makes a Welcome Return » Housing » 24dash.com

Hundreds of residents turned out for this years Hollinwood Carnival, sponsored by housing association Contour Homes, to celebrate community life in Hollinwood.

Mayor Shoab Akhtar officially opened the carnival at Limeside Park where there were a range of activities for residents including fair rides, face painting, dancing, local music, international food and craft stalls.

Shanine Meadowcroft, from Contour Homes said: The Hollinwood Carnival has quickly become a major event in the Hollinwood social and community calendar with an even bigger turn out than last year.

In the run up to the event, Contour Homes organised a costume-making session for children from The Avenues and Hollins Estate in Oldham who wanted to add their own creative touch to the carnival. The children designed a dragon for the festival which was paraded around the streets during the procession.
