ServiteThames has teamed with Zipcar, the worlds largest and fastest car sharing club, to forge a radical green work-life travel plan.

Zipcar will provide a sustainable, cost effective and convenient transport solution to the parking conundrum by sitting its cars in the existing bays which staff can reserve exclusively during weekday office hours at low hourly or daily rates. Zipcar members will then have access to the cars for the remainder of the time.

As part of the initiative, ServiteThames staff registered as corporate members can also benefit from a no cost personal Zipcar membership account. In addition, Servite Houses residents will have the opportunity to sign up for a special Zipcar offer, featuring a discounted annual membership rate of £25 plus £25 of introductory driving credit.

Heather Thomas, managing director of ServiteThames, said: Our car park at the Balham office is far too small in comparison to the number of employees, together with their cars which we anticipate. We had to come up with a radical idea. A car club seemed to be the best idea. By having Zipcars based at Balham, we will end up taking lots of cars off the road not only just those of staff but also those of people who live near Aura House.

She added: Working in partnership with Zipcar will be good for ServiteThames, good for staff, good for residents and good for the environment.
