Local communities in Hollinwood were recently invited to save money when they attended a U Compare Day.
The idea was the brainchild of Shanine Meadowcroft, Community Development Officer for social landlord Contour Homes. The rising cost of food and utility bills means that everyone is looking to save pounds where they can, she said.
People who dont have access to the Internet or who are not sure how to use the price comparison sites were able to call on experts to point them in the right direction.
The U Compare sessions were held at three locations in the Hollinwood area of Oldham and as well as employees from social landlord Contour Homes, the Hollinwood Voluntary Forum, staff from The Citizens Advice Bureau and Learn Direct were pointing people in the right direction.
Shanine added: As well as using the Internet to search for the best deals, we also encouraged people to share their money saving tips and advice with each other and people were pleasantly surprised
at how many savings could be had if you know where to look!
