PROGRESS HOUSING GROUP has been awarded the Navajo charter mark in recognition of its work towards offering a lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) friendly service.
The Leyland-based Housing Association received the award for the development of its Equality and Diversity policies to encompass LGBT issues at a special ceremony held in South Ribble.
The Award recognises the work of the internal E&D working group in raising awareness of equality issues across the organisation and its communities. Amongst other initiatives, the team has organised awareness events and training courses, and developed literature and other communications to enhance its service delivery to LGBT customers.
The Navajo Charter mark was launched in Lancashire to recognise private, public, voluntary and community sector organisations, which take positive steps to welcome and encompass LGBT issues within their organisation or service provision.
Jacqui De-Rose, Chief Executive of Progress Housing Group said: 'Progress Housing Group is committed to embracing Equality and Diversity throughout the delivery of our housing and related services,
and we are extremely pleased to have received this award. We have a very active and dedicated Equality and Diversity Group at Progress, and we are all committed to ensuring that all our customers
receive the service they need in a professional, fair and open manner .'
