Youngsters in Great Bedwyn near Marlborough have a new place to play.
Thanks in part to a grant from Sarsen Housing Association a state-of-the-art play park has been built on the Memorial Playing Field in the centre of the village.
The park is popular with local children but over the years the play equipment had become old and run down. Residents formed the community group Great Bedwyn Swings and Slides to raise £30,000
to refurbish the playground.
As well as organising their own fundraising events, the group asked the parish council and local sponsors to help out.
Sarsen has a number of homes overlooking the play area and donated £500 through its community chest fund. The fund helps pay for projects and activities that benefit local communities.
Karina Nicholson from Great Bedwyn Swings and Slides said:” It’s been a really successful project and we’ve had the support of the whole village. We’re so proud of our new
playground and would like to thank everyone who helped us raise the money.”
