As part of Fair View Court's commitment to promoting equality and diversity through different types of experiences, residents enjoyed a simple evening with local Quakers.

Phyllis Blockly and Beryl Dennis (volunteers from the Quakers Society of Friends) very kindly visited Fair View Court and cooked a simple but tasty meal of vegetable stew and sausages with the residents, followed by a fruit crumble.

Quakers like to spend as little money as possible, so all the ingredients were sourced from the local market and wherever possible were British.

The Quaker Faith springs from the experience that each Quaker can have a direct relationship with the Divine. Quakers find that by meeting together for communal worship they are empowered to find peace and strength the world.

Lorraine Addy, Project Worker at Fair View Court said;

"As well as our residents, I learned that the Quakers do not have paid priests, and the worship is very informal and relaxed; they sit in a group circle/square."

"Quakers take it in turns to run the various groups and activities that they hold for example lunches and study groups".

"The residents had an excellent evening and really learned new skills in the kitchen, very simple skills which will go a long way to support their resettlement aspirations."
