ACCENT STAFF GO OVER THE EDGE FOR CHARITY

Stout hearted staff from Peterborough housing association Accent Nene braved the elements to go over the edge for charity. Accent Nene managing director Andrew Williams led eight brave souls in a sponsored abseil from the top of a 120 ft Peterborough landmark to raise money for charity.

The abseiling team included Jill Jackson, Emma Fox, Ian Denton, Kate James, Gayle Bird, Steve Stanley and Hazel Barnard from the Accent Group’s Nottingham office. Steve Buddle from Accent Nene partners Sharman Quinney, in fancy dress, also braved the elements to go over the edge of the Woolworth’s building in Bridge Street, Peterborough, for charity.

In spite of severe weather conditions, the team who braved the high winds and conquered their fears to go over the top and down the rope really enjoyed the experience.

The team raised over £3,500 for its chosen charity, the Stroke Association.

Andrew Williams said: “I would like to say a big well done to everyone who took part in this event. It took a lot of courage to go over the top like that, particularly in the windy conditions that we faced.

“Despite having to contend with high winds on top of the building everyone was magnificent. They conquered their fears and were able to abseil down the sheer face of the building.

“We are delighted that we were able to raise so much money via donations from our staff, partners and suppliers.

“I would like to thank those who took part, staff who sponsored us and in particular our partners and suppliers who donated so generously to the Stroke Association.”
