Lancashire's Progress Housing Group has appointed Andy Speer to the post of Group Director of Finance.

Andy joins Progress from his position as Financial Services Accountant at the Places for People Group and Finance Director of the Group's subsidiary, Bristol Churches Housing Association (BCHA). He brings to Progress a wealth of experience in social housing finance and commercial businesses.

Andy joined Places for People Group in 1986 where he qualified as a Chartered Management Accountant. In his 21 years with the Places for People, he undertook a wide range of roles and played a significant part in a number of Housing Association mergers into the Group. In his new role at Leyland-based Progress, Andy will have responsibility for the Group's financial services, treasury, governance and risk, and procurement.

Says Andy 'I am delighted to join an organisation that has such a strong track record of developing innovative housing solutions whilst building on its financial strength. The ability to meet people's most basic need of having a roof over their heads combined with responding to the more complex needs of individuals and communities is a great challenge.'

Progress Housing Group's Chief Executive, Jacqui De-Rose said: 'Progress has a strong reputation for innovation and excellence and Andy joins us at a time of exciting opportunities. He succeeds Brian Tapp who is shortly to retire after over eight years of exemplary service to the organisation. Brian has contributed significantly to the Group's financial strength during his tenure. We are looking forward to seeing Andy build on this success and his contribution to the future development of our services to tenants and the communities that we serve.'
