Wirral’s Black Minority Ethnic (BME) Support Service is launching weekly surgeries to help members of BME communities with any housing or accommodation issues.

The first surgery takes place at the offices of Wirral Change in the Laurie’s Centre, Claughton Road, Birkenhead, on Tuesday March 18th at 10am and will run every Tuesday at the same time and place until further notice.

The Black Minority Ethnic Support Service focuses on providing support to anyone from the BME community and people of dual heritage who are employed or unemployed.

The type of issues they can provide help and support with are:-

•    Help with managing budgets and accessing welfare benefits, ensuring people are receiving all benefits they are entitled to;
•    Advice and support on repair works to property;
•    Identifying financial difficulties and referral for advice and guidance;
•    Helping people gain access to other services such as training programmes, healthcare and social activities;
•    Advice for people who have, or are victims of racial harassment and intimidation.

This list is not exhaustive so if anyone has a problem that is not listed above, the team will still do everything possible to help them resolve it.
