Festive fun was in full swing at a Beeston housing estate as residents, staff and local councillor Steve Carr celebrated an annual Christmas get together.

The yuletide party was organised by the Residents Association, headed by Doreen Smalley chair of the Neighbourhood Watch, at Lowes Estate to build relationships and raise money for community outings.

There were seasonal treats like mulled wine and mince pies, as well as a not-so-seasonal barbecue! A fancy dress competition, Santa’s grotto and the jolly fellow himself were the highlights for the children.

Kayleigh Pendleton, Santa’s elf and housing officer at LHA-ASRA Group, which manage the Lowes Estate properties, said: “It was a really great community event, which helped everyone into the Christmas spirit.”

Angela Unwin, also a housing officer at LHA-ASRA and Santa’s second elf, said: “We had a good turnout and while the festive foods were popular, the barbecue went down a storm!”
