Leading disability charity Papworth Trust has been working with Jobcentre Plus and Ingeus in Wellingborough to help people in Northamptonshire to get back to work.

Conservative MP Peter Bone visited the service today. He said, “This service fits in exactly with the new government’s policy of getting people back to work. I’m particularly impressed with the support that Papworth Trust gives to people with disabilities.”

The programme, Flexible New Deal, was developed by the Government to help more than 200,000 long-term unemployed people get a job.  It also offers local employers a unique tailored recruitment service to fill either a one-off job vacancy or a full recruitment drive.  Because this programme is funded by the government, Papworth Trust does not charge employers for the service.

Peter Bone met clients such as Paul Whyte (pictured), listening to their stories and talking to the staff who help them find jobs.

Lauren is one of the clients who have benefited from this programme, she says, “When I was referred to Papworth Trust I didn’t want to go - but am now really glad I did. At the time, I didn’t have anywhere to live and had been sleeping in a car and on a friend’s floor.”  Lauren now works at a residential care home.
