Capita’s Interactive Seminar
Personalisation in Mental Health Services
Wednesday 31st March 2010 – Central London

Aims and Objectives

“Personalisation is simple, cost effective and changes lives. The current economic climate and drive to make efficiencies offers real opportunities to make system change happen more quickly.” National Mental Health Development Unit

The ‘New Horizons: A Shared Vision for Mental Health’ report highlights personalisation as a central strategy for improving mental health. Capita’s interactive seminar provides essential guidance to help stakeholders working to embed personalisation throughout the mental health service.

Service providers must put in place a new approach to recovery which allows patients to self direct support according to their needs. This seminar has been specifically designed to give crucial information on what is required to deliver the right outcomes and to prepare for this radical change, including:

  • Tools to promote meaningful social and psychological recovery through effective support and care planning
  • Guidance on joint commissioning to promote self directed support
  • Workforce culture change and organisational development
  • Engaging service users as partners

With strategic presentations, interactive workshops and skills based sessions, this forum is a key opportunity to share knowledge and engage with experts and service users alike on taking forward personalisation. Attend to ensure you can promote choice, control and independence amongst your clients.

Benefits of Attending:

  • Get an update on the latest guidance and resources being developed by the National Mental Health Development Unit to help you implement personalisation
  • Gain detailed knowledge about brokerage pathways, mixed commissioning and outcomes based commissioning
  • Participate in a practical skills session on how to engage service users and create recovery care plans in partnership
  • Put your questions to the creators of the Recovery Star approach for planning and measuring recovery
  • Take away proven methods for improving the use of self directed support and personal budgets with your client base
  • Explore the importance of social factors such as aspirations and employment in recovery
  • Hear advice on organisational culture change to prepare the workforce for personalisation
