Hundreds of Burton residents picked up a little something extra from a town supermarket at a diabetes-themed healthy eating event held by South Staffordshire Primary Care Trust (PCT).

The Diabetes Specialist Nurse Team held an information day at Sainsbury’s in Burton on Tuesday to promote ‘MUNCH’ (Making Useful Nutritional Choices for Health) a scheme designed to inform people about how diet impacts upon diabetes.

Tracey Roe, Diabetes Specialist Nurse, South Staffordshire PCT said: The day was a great success, we wanted to increase awareness of the MUNCH education session and put diabetes back in focus for people.

“We were really busy and a lot of Burton residents came to speak with the team for advice on diet and how to maintain a healthy lifestyle. Plenty of information leaflets were taken away and we are hopeful that this will have had a positive impact on people.”
