A new initiative aimed at helping care professionals, carers and the disabled understand and experience at first hand is proving such a success it is being requested for repeat visits!

Total Hygiene, manufacturer and supplier of the top-selling Clos-o-Mat range of automatic shower toilets and toileting accessories, has literally taking to the road with its initiative, via a specially-built demonstration vehicle. The unit is proving so useful that, in Ireland alone, it is already on its fifth tour in less than 12 months, and in the UK it is booked at different locations nationwide every week for the next six months.

The ‘Bringing Independence to You’ vehicle is fully equipped with a ramp and purpose-designed inside to enable easy wheelchair manoeuvrability. Inside, it incorporates working examples of the new Clos-o-Mat Palma automatic shower toilet, the Lima Lift height adjustable automatic shower toilet suite and an Aerolet toilet lifter which replicates the natural motion of standing and sitting and can be fitted over a conventional WC, plus details of the complete range of Total Hygiene’s toileting accessories such as changing tables, height adjustable washbasins and grab rails.

Robin Tuffley, Total Hygiene marketing manager, elaborates, “Disability makes it difficult at best for people to be able to easily see, experience and understand the different solutions available and the most appropriate for their particular, personal requirements, and as technology has advanced, so has the range of aids available. We felt, in our role as the leading provider of toileting solutions for the disabled, it was our duty to enable people and help them understand the whole range of toileting solutions, so they can make an informed choice.”

Andrew Smyth, Clos-o-Mat’s sales manager in Ireland, adds, “Health professionals are busy enough looking after their clients on a day-to-day basis, without spending hours researching into new developments in equipment. What better way to than to physically take the options to their- and/or their clients’- door?”

The vehicle is available for both home and professional organisation visits; demonstrations can be arranged by telephoning (0044) 800 374076 or via the company’s website www.clos-o-mat.com.
Alternatively, the Clos-o-Mat Palma can be seen- and tried- at locations such as Archmore Mobility in Dublin, Care & Assist Company in Co Down, Easa in Co Armagh and the Ability Centre in Dundee, among others.
