Papworth Trust Centre, Cambridge has helped raise awareness for
the Cancer Appeal for Teenagers (CAT), part of the Teenage Cancer
Trust (TCT) East Anglia appeal.
The Centre, which provides services for people with disabilities
who want to access work-based vocational training and work
opportunities, partnered with TCT to print logos onto
‘hoodies’. The hoodies are now being sold to raise
funds for CAT.
The Centre operates a fully equipped print shop producing quality
printed garments, promotional items and delivering a full range of
photocopying services. Service users have the opportunity to take
part in printing and producing promotional goods; packaging; light
engineering and assembly; and voluntary work in the community.
Jacquie Warner, of TCT, said: “It is great that Papworth
Trust is involved. We found everyone at the Centre to be really
helpful and were really impressed with the quality of the
work”.
The Teenage Cancer Trust East Anglia appeal is raising funds to
provide a ward at Addenbrooke’s Hospital to treat teenagers
(13-24 years old) with cancer and make sure they get the best
possible care and the chance to just ‘be a teenager’ in
a place with people their own age. The unit, the very first in East
Anglia, will cost £2 million to build with half of this money
to be raised locally.
Pupils from Kimbolton School and St Peter’s School, both in
Huntingdon, The Leys, The International and Sancton Wood all in
Cambridge, submitted over 100 logo designs for the project. Art
teachers from each school, Cambridge University Students Union
(CUSU), Wysing Arts Centre and Papworth Trust voted for the winning
design.
Helena Harris, head of Learning for Life and Work at Papworth Trust
says: “It’s terrific to see that the hard work of our
service-users has had such a great impact in producing the hoodies
for the CAT appeal.”
The winning logo was recently announced at the Wysing Arts Centre
where they were modelled by the male president-elect of the CUSU
and a female student from Leeds University. If you would like to
support TCT, buy your hoodie today. Visit
