A support worker from Papworth Trust has won a place in the 2009 Flora London Marathon. Adam Hills, from Bedford, will compete in the 26.2 mile journey on 26 April with all proceeds going to the leading disability charity.

Adam has been a support worker with Papworth Trust for a year, working with adults with learning disabilities. Adam says “I really enjoy the work that I do so I’m really pleased to have the opportunity to give something back.”

Adam says “I have run marathons before but have always wanted to take part in the London Marathon so I couldn’t believe my luck when I received confirmation of a place”. He continues, “But it’s hard work from this point on. I want to raise as much money as I can for Papworth Trust and your support will help me to achieve that”.

This will be Adam’s sixth marathon. Each time he has managed to complete the distance quicker than the last time and so his latest training regime should help him to achieve his fastest ever time. Adam says “I hope to reach Buckingham Palace in under 3 hours and 15 minutes”. He continues, “Even though running is something that I have done a lot of over the years, making my best ever time to try and raise money for Papworth Trust is proving to be a big challenge”.

Yvonne Pinchen, head of Personal Support at Papworth Trust says: “It’s great to hear that Adam has been given a place in this year’s London Marathon – and even better that he would like to support Papworth Trust.” She continues, “We want to provide disabled people with equality, choice, and independence, and the money raised by Adam will help us to continue to achieve that.”
