Regenter, the housing-led regeneration specialist and joint venture between John Laing and Pinnacle Regeneration, has won Best Operational Project at the recent Public Private Finance Awards 2009, for its Canning Town Housing PFI. This is the second year Regenter, one of Pinnacle’s sister companies, has won this national award.

Jim Saunders, Regenter’s Managing Director said, “We are delighted to have won this prestigious award. The Canning Town housing project is a flagship scheme for Regenter and for the housing PFI industry. The award is a great tribute to the work of all the team on this project.”

Part of a wider regeneration programme for the area commissioned by the London Borough of Newham, the Canning Town project is one of the original eight Government PFI ‘Pathfinder’ initiatives.

The contract, awarded in 2005, covers the refurbishment of over 1000 social rented properties and 230 long leasehold properties to a standard that exceeds the Government’s Decent Homes criteria.

Equipe, a joint venture between John Laing and Pinnacle, is carrying out the initial refurbishment and is also responsible for on-going lifecycle, planned and responsive maintenance. As Neighbourhood Manager, Pinnacle is responsible for housing management, estate services and customer services for the full 30 year contract duration.

Refurbishment works were completed 5 months ahead of schedule in early 2008 and excellent progress has been made engaging with residents and building local strategic partnerships to assist the sustainable improvement of the whole community.
