Derwent Living is helping its customers to go green by introducing free recycling bags.

The idea of the bags is to make it easier for residents to transport their recycling to their local points, in areas where the council does not provide kerb-side recycling.

Derwent Living has so far delivered around 700 bags to homes around Nottingham and Derby, with 300 more to deliver.

Anthony Welch is just one of Derwent Living’s residents to have benefited from the introduction of the recycling bags.

Anthony said: “The introduction of a bag for every resident has made a real difference. I used to only recycle paper and card as they were the easiest things to do, now I feel much more inclined to recycle cans and other items.

“There is much more of an incentive for me and the other residents to recycle, it has certainly changed my attitude toward recycling even in the short time we have had the bags.

“There are also plenty of points to dispose of the recycling in various places around the schemes in Derby.”

Mitch Allseybrook, community development manager said: “We are really pleased to have introduced these bags for our residents to try and make recycling more accessible for them. We have had a really positive response so far and hope our residents continue to keep up the good work.”
