Childen and adults dancing
A voluntary arts organisation in Banbury has been helping to ‘bridge the gap’ between youngsters and adults after holding a series of inspirational workshops funded by Charter Community Housing, a member of Sanctuary Group.
LiveArts specialises in organising and delivering creative classes to young people, including dancing, singing and circus skills, helping to educate and teach them new skills in a relaxed and fun environment.
Charter’s donation of 1,619 allowed the group to hold an Intergenerational Workshop Programme, called ‘Bridging the Gap, which brought together youngsters and adults to take part in a series of educational classes in dance, creative writing, poetry and photography.
The four-week programme saw 120 students, aged ten and 11, from six primary schools in Banbury work with 33 adults in the classes which took place at St Mary’s Church, Banbury.
The culmination of the workshops was an evening of entertainment at the church where the youngsters and adults staged dance, reading and poetry sessions, before viewing the displays of photography and written work created over the four-week period.
Harj Lota, Managing Director of Charter Community Housing, said:
“We are committed to supporting creative opportunities which
help youngsters fulfil their potential and are delighted our
funding was able to help provide this educational programme of
activities.”
