Estates and communities across Preston have been recognised at the 2011 North West in Bloom Awards
Britain in Bloom is one of the longest running and well known environmental competitions in the United Kingdom. North West in Bloom is the voluntary regional organisation that runs the competition in Lancashire,Cheshire, Greater Manchester and Merseyside.
Each one of the communities below entered the "Its Your Neighbourhood" section of this years awards
The core pillars of It’s Your Neighbourhood identify its main values and main areas on which groups should focus their efforts and activities. The core pillars are:
- Community Participation (40%)
- Environmental Responsibility (30%)
- Gardening Achievement (30%)
With the support of Community Gateway Association and The Lancashire Wildlife Trust, areas have been transformed and residents are taking pride and making the best use of green spaces.
Levels of achievement – overall marks:
- Level 1 - Establishing 0-35 Points
- Level 2 - Improving 36-52 Points
- Level 3 - Developing 53-68 Points
- Level 4 - Thriving 69-85 Points
- Level 5 - Outstanding 86-100 Points
