Axiom held its annual residents conference on Saturday 8 October where over 120 residents attended along with the fire service, a guest caricaturist, Peterborough Regional College, Age UK plus many other local companies and agencies.

Even though it’s only a few working days since the conference, the feedback to date from residents, guests and attendees has been phenomenal.

The Axiom Residents’ Forum Chair, Ron Nesbitt, got everything off to a great start by giving a presentation whilst showing off his new colourful waistcoat!

This was followed by presentations, workshops and a flying visit from the local Fire Service (red watch), and a question time with Axiom’s senior staff where residents were able to quiz managers for an hour about different aspects of Axiom’s services.

Tracey Burton, the Resident Involvement Co-ordinator said:

“Feedback from delegates had been overwhelmingly positive with residents saying that they liked the balance of the day with something for everyone and a very relaxed and positive atmosphere."

"Many were moved by the stories of Ben and Clayton, two young men from our Young Persons Foyers who were courageous enough to share their inspirational stories.”

The conference, which was planned by Axiom Residents’ Forum, Tracey Burton and staff and residents, had something for everyone, including an Arts and Crafts stand where residents could show off their handy work.

Ron Nesbitt from Axiom Residents Forum added:

“What a wonderful time we had at the residents’ conference this year."

"Residents were very happy with the whole day and enjoyed the opportunity to mix with staff whilst learning new information in the workshops and being entertained by quizzes and music in some of the lighter moments. We put a lot of effort into organising the conference and it’s been a real success”

Charmaine Simei, Assistant Director Operations, said:

“I for one really enjoyed the opportunity to meet and work with so many residents to bring together and showcase the one things we all have in common, providing an outstanding service for our residents, wherever they live, whatever their needs and whoever they are."

"I saw first hand that we really do make a difference to people’s lives. Thank you to everyone involved in organising such a successful and memorable event”.
