A scheme which is making free loft and cavity wall insulation available to every home in Tamworth has been responsible for the installation of more than £560,000 worth of measures since its launch in June.

The project, which is being run by Tamworth Borough Council and insulation company Rockwarm, means that every resident living in one of the 32,000 dwellings in the Tamworth Borough Council area – whether a homeowner or renting property - can get loft and cavity wall insulation for free.

The offer is open to everyone living in Tamworth, regardless of age or income, and applicants do not need to be in receipt of benefits.

Since the scheme launched at the end of June, 1,536 improvements have been installed in homes across the borough, worth a total of £561,260. This represents a saving of 36,364 tonnes of carbon dioxide.

The scheme has proven to be so successful that it has now been extended to February 2012.
