Young entertainers in St Helens are invited to try out for a talent contest with auditions in Haydock and Billinge.

St Helens Got Talent is open to singers, dancers, musicians and performers across the borough aged 11-25 years.

Social landlord Riverside has joined forces with Morrison, Arena Homes, Safer St Helens and Re:new to fund the competition, organised by Merseyside Police.

Tanya Marsh, Riverside’s Neighbourhood Community Initiatives Officer, said: “Now in its fourth year, St Helens Got Talent is a great opportunity for young people to express themselves in a creative way. We never fail to be impressed by the talent we see and I’m sure this year will be no different.”

Natalie Gabriel, Merseyside Police Community Support Officer, added: “The show aims to promote young people in a positive light and prove that they have a lot to offer the community."

The competition is split into two age categories, 11-18 and 19-25. Twenty four acts will go through from the auditions to the semi-finals. The winners from the semi-finals will go on to perform at the final event at St Helens Theatre Royal.

The auditions will be held at:

  • Grange Valley Youth Club, Clipsey Lane, Haydock, on Saturday 11 September between 10am and 4pm.
  • Birchley St Mary’s Social Club, Trent Road, Billinge on Saturday 25 and Sunday 26 September between 10am and 4pm.

Application forms are available from Riverside’s St Helens neighbourhood office on Hardshaw Street or by contacting Tanya Marsh at Riverside on 0845 111 0000 or tanya.marsh@riverside.org.uk. You can also pick up an application form from your local police station or school.
