On Wednesday 10 March, Kay Coleman, Moat’s team leader, older person’s services, presented a cheque for £654 to the Phoenix Pre-School Centre in Bromley. The money was raised through a raffle of corporate Christmas gifts received by Moat staff. In line with procurement policy, Moat staff are unable to accept gifts over a certain value. They instead hand them in to be raffled off in the new year. The money raised from raffle ticket sales goes to a different charity each year.

This year, the funds went towards the Phoenix Pre-School Centre. The four classes at The Phoenix Pre-School provide part time placements for children with a wide range of severe or complex needs. All classes offer a warm and caring environment with high quality, intensive and rigorous assessment and intervention. When attending the Phoenix Pre-School, children are able to use the Centre’s many facilities which include a soft play area, a sensory room, hydrotherapy pool, gym a specially equipped playground and a sensory garden. A Speech and Language Therapist works with all the children and, in addition to this, the classrooms are supported by Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, nursing staff and Sensory Support Services.

Karen Waine, Senior Teacher at Phoenix Pre-School, says; “We are so grateful to Moat for this money. We plan to use it towards communication aids in order to continue to provide educational and developmental support to our students. The Phoenix Pre-School is an invaluable resource for children with a wide range of additional needs and disabilities. It is through funding like that which we’ve received from Moat and the dedication of staff and parents that we are able to continue to provide those much needed extra resources that support such an important local service.”

Kay Coleman, Moat’s team leader, older person’s services, says; “The Phoenix Pre-School Centre is a very worthy recipient of the funds raised by Moat’s annual staff raffle. We are delighted to be able to support them in their continued efforts to provide a positive learning experience to so many young people.”
