Two Peterborough schools will thrash it out to win The Schools Grand Challenge, an ‘apprentice style’ fundraising competition from leading disability charity, Papworth Trust. Orton Longueville School and Ken Stimpson Community School will each compete against other schools in Cambridgeshire.

The competition will encourage some friendly competition between the two schools, who will plan and arrange fundraising initiatives. The competition invites teams to raise as much money as they can from a £250 start-up kitty.

As well as raising vital funds for Papworth Trust to help achieve equality, choice and independence for disabled people, the competition will help the teams to learn about business and enterprise skills.

Bridget Orchard, Fundraising manager at Papworth Trust, said: “It’s great to see local schools taking part in the competition. As well as the educational benefits the students will gain, it will help them to get a better understanding of disability. And all the money that’s raised will help us to help more disabled people.”

The competition is currently underway and will end in April.
