Terry Brown, Marie Manchester and Bryan Brookes at the Colshaw Christmas Party
Pensioners from Colshaw Farm in Wilmslow and the Langley estate in Middleton were treated to a Christmas party by social landlord Riverside.
Colshaw Farm tenants and residents were taken on a trip down memory lane with 40s sweetheart Maria Manchester’s rendition of classic war songs and popular 40s hits while Langley guests were entertained by Alex Christy who played tribute to the swing of Michael Buble.
Sharon Thomas, Community Initiative Team Leader, said: “One of our corporate objectives is supporting vulnerable residents to live with dignity in their own homes. One of the ways we try and achieve this is through the promotion of social inclusion among our older residents.
“More than one third of the UK population aged 65 or over
live alone and feelings of isolation can amplify at Christmas,
which is typically a time of togetherness and celebration. Our
annual Christmas party is a chance to encourage our older residents
to get together and remain active in the community.”
