School children as young as five are to be taught about domestic violence and safe relationships as part of the statutory personal, social, health and economic (PSHE) education curriculum.

It is hoped that by teaching children from a young age about personal safety, the number of domestic violence perpetrators will fall. According to the British Crime Survey, approximately one million women are victims of domestic violence each year in the UK.
